If builders built buildings the way programmers write programs you'd be able to buy a nice colonial split-level for 25c at the corner store. "If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside." If builders built buildings the way C programmers write programs you'd get something a bit more junky that you can live in most of the time, that looks almost exactly like every other house on the block (except for the occasional non-standard mod). Your house would only rest properly on certain lots and not others. Most of the power outlets would be recognizible, but you could only buy your lights, etc. from one vendor. You'd have to have a large number of adaptors on hand to handle non-vendor supported appliances. Your two car garage would only fit one car (Chevy Chevette). The other slot would have to remain empty because no other car fits it currently, but one is promised for 1st quarter next year or the year after that. Then think about the problems landscaping...Home improvments/upgrades would always take much longer than expected and cost a lot more than you wanted to pay. And talk about a shortage of storage space! You'd never have enough storage.
